Born January 1, 1901, Michael “Mickey” Trowbridge would find that date marked him as a special individual. He would grow up quickly using his gift for languages to help out in the Great War. This would lead him to being welcomed into the Century Club (a social club of the world’s crème de le crème to outsiders, the Club – and specifically its chosen few Centurions who all share a birth date of the first day of the new century – serves to bring forth the promise of the new century and stand as a bulwark against those dark forces that would make it in their image). Changing his surname to “Totem” to better reflect his chosen profession, Mick (as he is known to his friends and enemies alike) has travelled the globe in his anthropological expeditions: discovering lost civilizations, finding hidden tribal cultures, and uncovering forgotten sites.
He spent several years with grandmasters and llamas in Bhutan, where he picked up some of their “Granite Discipline” which allows him to temporarily harden his skin like rock.
While Mick is not technically a member of the Paragon Society (they have invited him to join on more than one occasion but his commitment to the Century Club keeps him, in secret, from accepting) he has helped out on a few cases, and has enjoyed their shared adventures (doubly so when he gets to cross paths with Helen White).
